About Kangaroo Math Competition

Math Kangaroo was initiated by the famous Australian mathematician Peter O’Halloran in 1980. It is the world's largest international mathematical thinking challenge for teenagers.

Different from the traditional Mathematical Olympiad which emphasizes high difficulty and challenges, the purpose of the Kangaroo Mathematical Thinking Challenge is to use interesting and vivid topics that are close to life to stimulate children's interest and self-confidence in mathematics learning, cultivate students' mathematical thinking, and train students to read, Comprehension, analysis and problem-solving skills, suitable for students of all grades and all levels of mathematics. Therefore, the event has gradually become popular all over the world, and has been held in 87 countries and regions with more than 6.3 million students participating each year. In 2021, nearly 60,000 students from more than 4,200 key primary and secondary schools and international schools across the country will participate in the Kangaroo Math Thinking Challenge.

The Chinese Expert Committee of Kangaroo Mathematics will be responsible for representing the Organizing Committee in China to send outstanding mathematics topics to the Global Organizing Committee, and provide excellent competition topics for the participating students of Kangaroo Mathematics around the world. All members of the Chinese expert committee and mathematics teachers from all over the country can participate in the questioning of kangaroo mathematics. In the end, the expert committee will anonymously select excellent questions that conform to the principles and purposes of kangaroo mathematics and submit them to the global organizing committee. The Kangaroo Mathematics China Expert Committee will also hold kangaroo mathematics seminars from time to time, inviting members of the expert committee to exchange and discuss mathematics teaching concepts and promote the development of mathematics teaching in various schools.

In addition, the Kangaroo Mathematics Global Organizing Committee will hold a global annual meeting in different countries every year.
